Igor Ž. Žagar

Igor Ž. Žagar is a Senior Research Fellow (Head of the Center for Discourse Studies) at the Educational Research Institute, Ljubljana, Slovenia. He is a Professor of Rhetoric and Argumentation, University of Maribor & University of Primorska. Igor Zagar has been Full Professor of Rhetoric and Argumentation, University of Primorska, Koper, Slovenia since 2004. Igor Ž. Žagar earned a BA and MA in Philosophy, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. He holds a PhD in Sociology, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia (1992). Igor Ž. Žagar was an Assistant Professor of Sociology of Culture, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia in the period of 1993 – 1998. In 1998 he earned an Associate Professorship in Sociology of Culture, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. He has studied at the following foreign universities: Université Paris VIII, Paris, France (French government scholarship for post-graduate education), supervisors: prof. Dr. François Châtelet, Philippe Soulez) (from 1986 to 1987); Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales, Paris, France (Slovenian government scholarship for PhD thesis preparation), supervisor: Prof. Dr. Oswald Ducrot (from 1989 to 1990). Igor Zagar did research work at foreign universities: Universiteit van Antwerpen (UIA), Antwerpen, Belgium, with prof. Dr. Jef Verschueren from 1993 to 1994; at Universiteit van Antwerpen (UIA), Antwerpen, Belgium, with Prof. Dr. Jef Verschueren (1997). He is the co-author of the following books: “How to do things with tense and aspects. Performativity before Austin“ and “Učitelj kot retorik: retorično-argumentativni vidiki pedagoškega diskurza”.
